Quarterly Newsletter Archive
Keep up-to-date with the latest news from Atisha Centre.
Our newsletter contains teachings and prayers and should be considered a holy object, therefore, please think before you print these newsletters. For more information on appropriate handling of Dharma materials, please visit our Centre Etiquette page >>
If you have printed material that you would like to dispose, please return to your centre for disposal, or follow these recommendations from Nick Ribush at Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archives.
"Should you need to get rid of Dharma materials, they should not be
thrown in the rubbish but burned in a special way. Briefly: do not
incinerate such materials with other trash, but alone, and as they burn,
recite the mantra OM AH HUM. As the smoke rises, visualize that it
pervades all of space, carrying the essence of the Dharma to all
sentient beings in the six samsaric realms, purifying their minds,
alleviating their suffering, and bringing them all happiness, up to and
including enlightenment. Some people might find this practice a bit
unusual, but it is given according to tradition."

Just as scientists observe and catalogue the material world, Buddhists for centuries have been observing and catalogueing the components of the human psyche. Addressing both the nature of the human mind and how humans know what they know, Buddhist psychology offers a rich and subtle knowledge of the inner experience.

After years of work, the beautiful statue of Mother Tara (Dorje Drolma) now graces an altar in the main Atisha Centre gompa. Serene and exquisite, with a loving gaze and the hint of a smile, she is a wonderful addition to our collection of Holy objects.

“Because we and all beings still live in samsara and have anger, attachment ignorance and all the mental garbage; having all wrong views is why we need Dharma centres, which are a place to learn, to practice, to purify and collect merits, to inspire each other, to develop wisdom and compassion and to achieve liberation and enlightenment." Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Message from Geshe Konchok Tsering as he leaves the centre: Eight years and roughly five months have passed since I first came to the Atisha Centre. I have used this opportunity to bring as much benefit as I could through the dharma. Through these activities I have made many friends and developed a closeness to many of you. I consider that the best part of my life has been offered here.

Making The Most Of Holy Images
By being mindful in the presence of Buddha images we can avail of a powerful way to collect great merit. This is because of the power of the basis. This means that merely by seeing a buddha
statue or picture we create a cause to attain enlightenment.

Kyabje Lama Zopa’s Arrival at Atisha Centre Good evening to everybody. All the students who are seeking liberation, ultimate happiness, and the peerless happiness of full enlightenment, everybody, came here for sentient beings, gathered here for Dharma, to subdue one’s own mind and to actualize bodhichitta, the most important thing in life, the most important project in life. And then, on the basis of that, to actualize the resultant vehicle, the Secret Vajrayana, to liberate numberless sentient beings from the oceans of samsaric sufferings and bring them to full enlightenment That is the ultimate goal of our life.
