  • Sometimes we imagine compassion to be a noble and spiritual activity. In fact, it is our natural response to the world when we relax our mind enough to truly take in what is going on around us.

Cancellation and refund policy

Atisha Buddhist Centre recognises that people withdraw from courses, programs and retreats for a variety of reasons beyond their control and if possible should be entitled to reimbursement of course fees and cost of accommodation paid in advance of the program. However the centre should not be out of pocket for work done in preparation for the program, administration, or loss of income.

Policy

In the event of circumstances preventing participation, reimbursement of course fees and accommodation booking is warranted, however costs incurred by the centre in administration and preparation for the event on behalf of the participant must be paid. With this in mind it is the policy of Atisha Centre that:

To book a place in a course or program participants must pay a 50% deposit which includes a 10% non-refundable administration fee. 100% of the cost of the course fees must be paid by the closing date.

To book accommodation participants must also pay 50% of the cost of accommodation which includes a 10% non-refundable administration fee. 100% of the cost of accommodation must be paid for retreats and courses when demand is likely to be high.

If a participant withdraws from a course or program 7days or more prior to the event then he/she will be reimbursed 90% of the cost of the course fee and 90% of the cost of accommodation, provided that the fees have been paid in full. If part payment has been made, then reimbursement will be the paid amount less 10% of the full course fee and accommodation (if required).

Within one week of the commencement of the course or program, reimbursement of course fees and accommodation will be 50% unless the place can be filled from a waiting list, in which case the usual 90% will apply.

If, for whatever reason, part payment only has been made, then reimbursement will be the paid amount less 50% of the full course fee and accommodation (if required).

Once a course or program has commenced, additional costs will have been incurred on behalf of the participant and refunds may not be possible. If a participant withdraws during a course or program, the level of reimbursement will be decided on a case by case basis by the Director, SPC and one other Executive committee member.

To ensure consistency, course coordinators will NOT decide reimbursement, but will refer the matter to the Director.
