Dromtonpa Study Group (Daylesford)

Dromtonpa Study Group has met regularly to meditate and study Tibetan Buddhist philosophy since its inception in Daylesford in the early 1990's. Over the years it has forged a strong relationship with Atisha Centre and the nearby Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery - being nurtured and strengthened by the qualified Dharma teachers who visit Atisha Centre. In fact it was the wonderful and highly skilled ordained teacher Venerable Gyatso (Dr Adrian) who spent years travelling to the group to give teachings and meditation instruction and was responsible for fostering the group's committment. The tradition of monks travelling from Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery to give Dharma teachings continues on a weekly basis. Along the way an interest in Buddhist art practices has evolved from the artists within the group which led to group members designing and building the stage for the 2002 visit of
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama Dromtonpa received its name in 1999 from Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the Spiritual Director of a worldwide group of Tibetan Buddhist centres called the F.P.M.T (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition). It is from here that Dromtonpa draws its inspiration and its qualified teachers.
